Edelrid Mega Jul II belay device
Edelrid's Mega Jul II lightweight and solid bucket belay and descender climber, made of stainless steel to increase strength is now in its second updated and improved version.
The Mega Jul is excellent for belaying the former with either single or twin ropes. It can be used with ropes with a minimum diameter of 7.9 mm and a maximum of 10.00 mm.
It is equipped with an additional upper ring that allows, once the belayer has arrived at the belay point, to organise the recovery of one or two second ropes in brake mode. Thanks to an additional lower ring, then, the Mega Jul II also allows one-second regulated rappelling from the belay.
It is also excellent to use as a descender for abseiling, with or without a prusik or machard knot.
But let's now look at all the changes:
- greater braking effect of the new device geometry helps the belayer arrest a fall from first
- quicker rope uncoiling during lead climbing thanks to thumb loop operation
