Edelweiss has been a leading producer since it was born in the 1950s. It has always looked for innovative solutions and technologies in order to perfect its ropes and climbing equipment in general. In 1971 Edelweiss started its cooperation with Reinhold Messner for the development of the Everdry technology for the sheath of the ropes; the Perdur treatment, which increases the resistance to abrasion, was developed in 1991. The first harness without buckles was produced in 2003.
