Climbing cords are very useful in a wide range of occasions while trad climbing. You can use them to build anchors, belay stations, create Prusik and Machard knots, carry material. They are usually in nylon or in kevlar, they can be tied with a double fisherman's knot or you can find them already sewn together, in different lenghts.
